Rearview Mirrors: An Oral Archive DVD Record-keeping often is viewed as books and paperwork in managed archives. But RearView Mirrors animates the library, providing opportunities to videotape interviews and capture public interaction with people who lived in special times or served in great wars. From life in a rural community to war veterans who share memories of challenging days during military service, RearView Mirrors provides both small and large forums to such exchanges. Thanks to Ivan Emry, who videotapes the segments and produces DVDs available for $20 donations at the Sheridan Historical Society museum. It enriches our history. Contact the Society for more information. |

Boxley Book - A Man with a Price on His Head With a little poetic license, an anonymous author presupposed the drama and adventure experienced by abolitionist, George Boxley, as he fled his Virginia homeland and family. Eventually Boxley settled on a knoll to become the first settler in Adams Township, Indiana. |

Slate Pieces When Caswell Boxley built his mansion on Pioneer Hill, it was believed that the use of gray slate on the roof was extended onto his father's original cabin. As part of the restoration of that cabin, the slate was removed and given to the Sheridan Historical Society. Those interested in obtaining slate for a donation may contact the Sheridan Historical Society at (317) 758-5054. |
